What I thought would be a simple press-out job turned into multiple attempts, a lot of learning, and yes… I accidentally set my jacket on fire while cutting a stubborn bolt with sparks flying. Well… this wasn’t planned. The lower ball joint on my 1995 Ford Crown Victoria failed and completely separated from the socket, which means it’s time to tear into the suspension. In Day 1 of this repair series, I work through removing the steering knuckle and show what’s involved when a ball joint lets go. Watch the steps to program your new keyless remote for a 1996 Ford Crown Victoria. First, open the trunk and look for a sticker with a five-digit code on the underside. Second, enter that number in the keypad on the driver's side. The locks will come up. Then, immediately hit the '1/2' button on the keypad. Third, push a button on the remote. It will make the locks go down and up again, signaling that the remote is paired. Lastly, hit the '7/8' and '9/0' buttons at the same time to tell the car you're done.
